What is a Kandi Planner?

Kandi Planners are my unique take on a physical version of a digital project planning tool. If you've ever used software (like BeadTool) or an app (like Kandi Pad) to digitally plan your designs, then you'll know how to utilize a Kandi Planner with ease. Available in a wide range of sizes and styles, my Kandi Planners have been helping take the confusion out of making kandi since 2023!

How do I use it?

I designed these pieces to be simple in design and function. They work in much the same way as digital beading programs, but without the need to be sitting in front of a screen! Simply place your beads into the fitted slots in whatever pattern you wish to create and you’re ready to begin beading! My personal preference is to tie a length of stretch cord to a blunt tipped craft needle so I can easily pick beads up from their slots as I work.

Why should I buy one?

Do you struggle with complex patterns, skipped beads, or mixed up colors that require you to undo your piece? I sold my first pieces online in the year 2000 when I was just 12 years old. Who created Kandi Planners and why?

Kandi Planners are my pride and joy creation! Many years ago, I was a full time kandi mask maker who went by the name “Dirty_Catz”. I created over 1,000 kandi masks in a four year span, and every pattern I created was done digitally using a program called BeadTool. I would spend 12+ hours hunched in front of my computer every day, looking from screen to beads and back again until my eyeballs felt like they were on fire! D: I always wished there was “something like a perler bead board, but for pony beads” so I could set up all my designs ahead of time and work from a more comfy spot in my home. Many years later, inspiration finally struck and the first version of my Peyote Stitch Kandi Planner was made! I have been making and selling physical copies of my planners since the summer of 2023 with close to 400 pieces printed to date. It brings me joy and fills me with pride to see how much these simple pieces have helped kandi kids around the world!

Purchase of this listing includes: 1) one 3D model of a full sized planner, 2) one 3D model of a sample sized planner, and 3) a short write-up containing my preferred slicer settings for optimal prints to get you started.

Purchase of this file does NOT grant the buyer permission to post, sell, or redistribute this or any other models under any circumstances.

DISCLAIMER: This model has been sized to fit on and be printed by machines that have a larger sized 430mmx430mm build plate. Depending on the build plate size of the 3D printer you are using, you may need to cut this model into sections and piece them together using adhesive after your prints are completed. Many guides are available online to walk you through this process if you are not already familiar with how to do so. 

WARNING: DO NOT SCALE DOWN THE MODEL. The bead slots are designed to measure 10mmx7mm which leaves about .5mm of room on all sides for your standard 9mmx6mm pony bead and about .25mm of room for your slightly larger and matte style pony beads. If you decrease the size of the model, the bead slots will be too small for standard sized pony beads. You CAN scale up the model if needed for larger beads!
